When I came to my first personal training session, I must say that I was reluctant.
No. I was very reluctant to start with these stretching exercises – who needs it? OK, I was overweight, I could hardly turn my head from side to side – mainly to the right, when joining the freeway from the feeding street – I had to twist my body because other wise I wouldn’t be able to see if there is traffic coming my way…
You might think that this is another story (I’m a writer – see one of my stories somewhere on this site), but it isn’t.
Just over 3 months ago I started to go the gym in order to have personal training and was assigned to Rebekka – or may be Rebekka was assigned to me? What ever it was, it was a match made in Heaven…
She made me feel comfortable from the first moment and it hadn’t stopped ever since. The fact is that I feel like I was born again: my body changed, my mussels strengthen, and my posture is so much better and… I can turn my head both left and right to a degree I haven’t been able to do for many years and I’ve lost over 16% of my body weight. This fact is very important because I’ve got Diabetes. Yes, I also keep an eye on what I eat, but these two things – stretching and eating wisely – do go hand in hand.
One of the best things that take place during our sessions is that I’m explained what we do and why we do it – Rebekka keeps asking me if I indeed feel the stretch and where I feel it. The other good thing is the variety of the stretches we do – there are so many different stretches and they all helped towards gaining control of my body – the body doesn’t control me any longer – it is a great feeling to be able to see myself while training in the mirror, reaching new heights each session. You might not believe it, but nearly every week, I “find” a new mussel I forgot or didn’t know about – once you do it yourself, you’ll see…
I never thought that I’ll sit down to write a testimonial about stretches, never. But there you go – I sat down and did it. I did it because I LOVE every session I go to and I can’t wait for the next one to come – if you haven’t trained on a one to one basis, you don’t know what you have been missing!
Just so you know, my lovely wife goes with me and is being trained by another personal trainer, so, should you have some other thoughts about why I’m so happy to go to the training twice a week, forget about them…
If you think that I’ve made all this up – you’re more than welcome to watch me in training with Rebekka – I’m sure she won’t mind!
And by the way – did I tell you that I’m 70 years young and that I should have started this training many years earlier? Well, if I didn’t, then I’ve done so now!
